Lawyers will not defend the accused in Ankita Murder Case, court hearing postponed

In the Ankita Bhandari Murder Case, the hearing of the killers could not be heard in the court on Wednesday amid heavy protests by the lawyers. Lawyers refused to fight the case of Ankita Bhandari's killers. On September 23, the police arrested two killers, including Pulkit Arya, the owner of Vanantara Resort and son of a former BJP leader. 

The killers were sent to jail in judicial custody after their arrest, after which people protesting across the state raised many questions on not getting police remand. The judicial custody of the killers ended on October 06. Let us tell you that the Kotdwar Bar Association has decided not to defend the killers of Ankita Bhandari.

Lawyers refused to fight the case

The remand advocate, who applied for bail of the accused in the Ankita murder case, has now refused to fight the case. Advocate Jitendra Rawat had filed a bail application in the court of Kotdwar Judicial Magistrate First Class Bhavna Pandey. Now he said that considering the matter sensitive, he has withdrawn the application of bail of the accused. 

At the same time, Bar Association Kotdwar President Ajay Pant said that if any advocate comes from outside to defend the accused regarding the Ankita murder case, then the Bar Association will fully oppose it. Said that Ankita was the daughter of all of us. Since the matter is sensitive, I myself will represent Ankita in the court.

President of Bar Association’s comment

In this regard, the president of the association, Ajay Pant, says that a heart-wrenching incident like the Ankita murder case has shaken the entire state. All the advocates are with Ankita's family and all will try together to ensure that Ankita's family gets justice soon. 

In this regard, other lawyers say that it is very unfortunate to have such accidents in Devbhoomi. The culprits should be given such punishment which can become an example in the whole country. The lawyers had also demanded to hear the matter in the fast track court.
