Mahapanchayat called by farmers at Lucknow as the protest to continue until law on MSP is formed

Though the government has announced that the three contentious farm laws will be taken back in the upcoming parliament session, the farmers protest has not rested. This is the reason why Maha Panchayat was organised in the capital of Uttar Pradesh Lucknow on the call of Samyukt Kisan Morcha. The Mahapanchayat is said to be organised to decide the future plan of Farmers Protest.

When Rakesh Tikait, leader of Samyukt Kisan Morcha, was asked why Lucknow was chosen as the place to conduct Mahapanchayat, he informed that the main reason behind this was the Lakhimpur Violence. Ajay Mishra, who according to farmers is the prime accused of Lakhimpur Kheri incident, belonged to Lucknow only and hence the place was chosen for the Mahapanchayat.

Farmers from all over India joined the Mahapanchayat. The Farmers have said that the protest will continue until the three farmers are actually repealed. Along with this the farmers are now demanding a law to be made that will provide them guarantee about MSP. Farmers are constantly highlighting that the demand for MSP is the most significant and that they have been demanding this since a long time now.

Farmers said that the step to repeal the three farm laws is a good step taken by Prime Minister but it is not welcoming. SKM also informed that a letter indicating demands of Farmers has been written to the Prime Minister.

Farmers Protest doesn’t seem like ending anytime soon. Farmers have decided to continue their programmes as scheduled till November 29 and the Kisan Morcha is ready for it. On 27 November, another meeting will be called by the farmers to decide future plans as per the situation.
