Mainpuri ByPolls: Will Dimple Yadav be able to save Mulayam's legacy in Mainpuri?

There is a lot of excitement about the by-elections in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh. This election is a question of credibility for the Samajwadi Party. At the same time, BJP is also preparing to give a tough challenge to the SP in this election after the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Meanwhile, after landing as a candidate for Dimple Yadav in the election season, the socialist clan has started preparations to get her victory.

Mainpuri is the stronghold for SP

There are total 5 Vidhan Sabhas in Mainpuri, in which the seats of Karhal and Jaswant Nagar are also included. At present, Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav are occupied as MLAs. There are about 17 lakh voters in this seat in which Yadav 4.25 lakh, Shakya 3.15 lakh, Thakur 2.50, Brahmin 1.25, Dalit 1.50 lakh, Lodhi 1 lakh, Vaish 70000 and Muslim 45000. Mainpuri is the stronghold of Mulayam Singh Yadav and in the elections of 2014 and 19, he was an MP from here, carrying forward his legacy, Dimple Yadav has been fielded by the SP.

Seat vacant after Mulayam's death

This seat fell vacant after the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav on October 10. Dimple Yadav contested and lost from Kannauj in 2019 against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Subrata Pathak. Akhilesh's Karhal assembly seat is part of the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency and is similarly represented by Shivpal Yadav from Jaswant Nagar seat. Dimple Yadav was elected unopposed from this seat in 2012 after Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat to become the Chief Minister and go to the Legislative Council.
