Around 11 people were killed while several others were injured in a road accident in district Poonch this morning. The injured are being treated at District Poonch Hospital. A bus rolled into a ditch this morning in Vegeta area along the Line of Control in district Poonch of Jammu division. Soon after the accident, rescue operations were carried out with the help of the army, police and local people. It is being told that six people died on the spot, while six seriously injured people died in the hospital or on the way. About 23 people are said to be injured right now. Of these, eight people are in critical condition.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident. Compensation has also been announced for the families of those who lost their lives in a road accident in Poonch. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has announced a relief of Rs 5 lakh each for the family members of the deceased. Along with this, the officials have also been instructed to provide better treatment to the injured.
President Draupadi Murmu has condoled the accident. He tweeted, “The death of people in the painful road accident in Savjian, Poonch is extremely sad. My condolences and prayers are with the bereaved families. I wish the injured a speedy recovery."
