The counting of votes for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections has started at 8 am. In the initial trends, the Aam Aadmi Party seems to be getting an edge. At the same time, the Congress seems to be missing from the scene. However, the postal ballot is still being counted. Voting was held on 250 seats of MCD on 4 December. A total of 1349 candidates are in the fray in 250 wards in these elections. BJP is in control of Delhi MCD for the last 15 years. But this time the Aam Aadmi Party game looks strong in the exit polls.
The Election Commission has set up a total of 42 counting centers for counting votes. 68 election observers have been deployed for counting of votes. The counting of votes is being done by the Returning Officer in the presence of the candidates or their representatives. Apart from this, the Election Commission has also deployed 136 engineers of ECIL. Security has been tightened outside these counting centers. Only registered people will get entry in these.
