Meghalaya Election Result: Will BJP ally with Conrad Sangma once again?

Meghalaya Election Result 2023: The results of Meghalaya assembly elections are indicating that once again BJP and CM Conrad Sangma’s NPP can form a coalition government in the state.

It seems that no single political party is going to get an absolute majority in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. The National People’s Party (NPP) of the current Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has emerged as the single largest party in the state. The BJP has won 2 seats and is leading on one. 


Conrad spoke to Amit Shah

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah over phone to seek BJP’s support for forming the new government. Assam CM Hemant Biswa Sarma has tweeted this information. From the 59 assembly seats on which voting has been held, this party has won 20 seats and it is leading in 5 seats, till the counting of votes. The United Democratic Party (UDP) has been at number two which has won 11 seats. Congress has won 5 seats.
