Every year, the Met Gala invites celebrities from all over the world to New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to commemorate the start of its annual fashion exhibition, which features a different subject each year. The biggest night in fashion this year is a dazzling homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld, a brilliant designer who oversaw legendary luxury powerhouses like Chanel, Fendi, Balmain, and Chloé. Attendees were encouraged to dress “in honor of Karl” to commemorate the opening of the Costume Institute exhibition Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.

Asian Celebrities at Met Gala 2023
The evening’s dress code was understandably difficult to follow because the renowned stairs of the Museum required looks that were plainly “in honor of Karl”. The celebrities also made sure to give it their all on the red carpet, progressing slowly but steadily. Apart from Rihanna’s stunning presence, a plethora of Asian celebs dazzled with their excellent clothing choices in the evening. Jennie Kim of Blackpink, also regarded as the final Chanel muse chosen by Lagerfeld himself, made her eagerly anticipated red carpet entrance at the event wearing a throwback outfit from the brand’s fall/winter 1991 catwalk. Jackson Wang and Ke Huy Quan of GOT7 used Lagerfeld as their model and integrated parts of his classic uniform into their outfits.
