Morbi Bridge Collapse: PM Modi reached the spot, took stock

So far 135 people have been confirmed dead in the cable bridge accident on Machhu river in Morbi district. Search and rescue work is still going on. PM Modi along with Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel reached the spot in Morbi and tried to understand what happened on the day of the accident.

PM Modi met the injured

He met the security and relief personnel engaged in the rescue operation and understood the situation with the Home Minister of Gujarat. After this he went straight to the hospital from the accident site and met the injured survivors of the bridge accident.  During the meeting with the injured in the hospital, PM Modi asked about their well being to all the injured admitted. 

After knowing the condition of the injured, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a high level meeting with all the top officials. That meeting was also done regarding this Morbi accident. In that meeting, clear instructions have been given to the officers on their behalf that a detailed investigation should be done in this matter. Efforts should be made to understand how this accident happened.

Hearing on Nov 14

SIT has been constituted by the state government to investigate the Morbi accident. In this case, 9 people have also been arrested, whose interrogation is still going on. A public interest petition has been filed in the Supreme Court to hear the case related to the collapse of a 150-year-old cable-stayed bridge in Morbi, Gujarat. The hearing of which will be done on November 14.
