Naqvi appointed as governor of Bengal

The news of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi being made the governor of the state came to light after BJP made Jagdeep Dhankhar, who was the Governor of West Bengal, as the Vice Presidential candidate. 

Congratulating Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi by tweeting, BJP MP Hans Raj Hans said, "Congratulations on the appointment of Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi ji as the new Governor of Bengal by the Central Government." After this Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi became the Governor. The news of leaving was denied.

Naqvi’s political career

In 1998, Bharatiya Janata Party gave a ticket to Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi from Rampur and he won the election. Then he was made the Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. When the Modi government came to power in 2014, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was made Minister of State for Minorities, got cabinet status in 2016. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi again took power in 2019, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was again made the Union Minority Minister.
