Farmers from different states have gathered in large numbers for the Kisan Mahapanchayat to be held at the Government Inter College Ground in Muzaffarnagar on Sunday in protest against the three controversial agricultural laws of the Centre. Everyone is surprised to see the crowd here. Even BJP MP from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi has reacted to it. Seeing the crowd of farmers, Varun Gandhi gave his reaction on Twitter.
BJP MP Varun Gandhi wrote on his Twitter wall that today lakhs of farmers are engaged in a sit-in protest in Muzaffarnagar. They are our own people. We need to treat them in a respectful manner again. He further wrote that understand the pain of the farmers, their point of view and connect with the grassroots people with them.

It must be noted that in view of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh early next year, this performance of farmers is being considered important. The 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' is being organized by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. According to Dharmendra Malik, spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, farmers from 300 farmer organizations spread across different states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Karnataka have reached the venue, where more than 5,000 langars (food stalls) have been set up.

Farmers wearing different colored caps and flags of organizations were seen reaching here by buses, cars, and tractors since Saturday evening. Several medical camps have also been set up around the venue. LED screens have also been installed in different parts of the city to facilitate viewing of the program to those unable to access the GIC College grounds. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Saturday claimed that farmers from 15 states have started reaching Muzaffarnagar to participate in Sunday's 'mahapanchayat'.
