Following the big win in the documentary category by the elephant whisperers now SS Rajamouli’s RRR has added another feather to Indian cinema hat as it managed to win the Oscars 2023 in the best original song category beating some of the all time legends such as Lady Gaga and Rihanna.

In what is unquestionably India's best year at the Oscars, RRR's Naatu Naatu and Guneet Monga's The Elephant Whisperers each take home Best honours from the 95th Academy awards. While Guneet Monga's The Elephant Whisperers won the best short documentary film award, the much anticipated Jr. NTR and Ramcharan’s starrer RRR did exactly what the fans were expecting. Song Naatu Naatu is collecting its Best original song award from Hollywood's biggest night.

Naatu Naatu triumphed over a number of tough competitors, including Lady Gaga's Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, Rihanna's Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Applause from Tell It Like a Woman. Composer MM Keeravaani and lyricist Chandrabose received the Oscars; during his acceptance speech they both sang the cover lines of the song they grew up listening.
