Ten seconds before touching down on January 15 at Pokhara International Airport in Nepal, an ATR-72 belonging to Yeti Airlines crashed. This aircraft from Kathmandu to Pokhara carried a total of 72 passengers, including 4 crew members and 5 Indians.
All of the passengers on board the aircraft, which was being piloted by Chief Pilot Kamal KC and his co-pilot Anju Khativada, have reportedly perished in the crash, according to the information received. Kamal KC has 35 years of experience flying aircraft and had trained a lot of pilots throughout the course of his career.
When the aircraft made a successful landing, Anju would be promoted. The plane crashed minutes before landing, just as Anju was about to transition from co-pilot to captain. The pilot of this aircraft was Senior Captain Kamal KC. The co-pilot of this aircraft was Anju. Deepak Pokharel, Anju's husband, also perished in the plane tragedy. The Yeti Airlines plane had crashed even as recently as 16 years prior. Co-pilot Deepak was also on board the aircraft, however he perished in the collision. The occurrence took place on June 21, 2006. The plane then departed Nepalgunj towards Surkhet.
