Delhi government has taken this decision to ban BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles till December 9 on the basis of the guidelines of the Central agency Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). The purpose of this decision is to stop the increasing level of pollution in Delhi. This decision will be applicable only on four wheelers.
An order issued by the Transport Department stated that in accordance with the Stage III of the revised GRAP and the directions given under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, it is hereby ordered that BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel LMVs ( Four-Wheelers) will be applicable in NCT of Delhi with immediate effect up to 9th December or until such time as changes are made at the GRAP stage.
