After the AGM of BCCI on 18 October, it was made clear that the Indian Cricket Team will not travel to Pakistan to participate in the Asia Cup 2023. They said that an effort would be made to organize this tournament on the Nutral Venue. After this statement given by the Secretary of the Cricket Board of India, the reaction from the PCB came out in the evening itself. In this reaction, Pakistan had asked to withdraw its name for the ODI World Cup to be held in 2023.

PCB issued Press release

Issuing a press release on behalf of the PCB, it was said, "The PCB has expressed surprise and dismay at the remarks of ACC President Jay Shah regarding the conduct of next year's Asia Cup in a neutral venue. This was said without any consultation with the Asian Cricket Board or the Pakistan Cricket Board and without considering their long term consequences and implications.

The press release further said, "After presiding over the ACC meeting, in which Pakistan won the Asia Cup with heavy support from the members of the ACC Board. The statement of shifting the Asia Cup is clearly one-sided. This is against the spirit for which the Asian Cricket Council was created in September 1983.

Pakistan Cricketers gives reactions

The matter does not seem to be calming down in this regard. Former Pakistan opener Saeed Anwar has reacted sharply to this. On the other hand, Shahid Afridi tweeted that everything was going well for a year and what was the need for the BCCI secretary to make this statement before the T20 World Cup match. Afridi wrote, “When in the last 12 months there has been a friendly atmosphere between the two teams. This has also created a feel-good factor in both the countries, so why did the BCCI secretary have to make this statement before the T20 World Cup match? It shows the lack of experience of cricket administration in India."
