Pakistan asks help from UAE

To prevent Pakistan from going into debt due to low foreign exchange reserves, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir asked the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia for $4 billion in financial support. A key source close to the Pakistani administration claimed that the United Arab Emirates had explicitly instructed Pakistan to reassess its policies and take action to strengthen ties with its neighbours (India).

Shahbaz Sharif has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to engage in a "honest discourse" regarding the Kashmir dispute since "three wars with India have only worsened its woes, poverty, and unemployment." In the past, a Pakistani English publication stated that although PM Sharif appeared to be 'pleading' with the world for financial assistance as Pakistan appeared to be slipping deeper into its economic crisis, India was 'progressing' steadily.
