The monsoon session of Parliament is going to start from today and will continue till August 12. A total of 18 sittings will be held in this monsoon session and 24 bills will be introduced. Elections are also to be held for important constitutional posts, both the President and the Vice Presidential Election, during the Parliament session that will continue till August 12.

Uproars in sessions

This session is likely to be uproar. Its indications were given by the opposition in an all-party meeting called by the government on Sunday. In the meeting held a day before the session, the Congress expressed displeasure over the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At the same time, the Apna Dal (S), which is part of the government, demanded the Center to take an early decision on the caste census and formulate a policy to end the backlog in government jobs. During this, different parties demanded discussion on topics like the Agneepath scheme, alleged misuse of central agencies, women's reservation, and inflation.

32 bills for discussion

On the other hand, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that in the all-party meeting, the government said on its behalf that 32 bills have been listed for discussion in Parliament, of which 14 are ready. These include important bills like The Multi State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill 2022, The Ancient Monuments & Archaeological Sites & Remains (Amendment) Bill, Central Universities (Amendment) Bill and Press & Registration of Periodicals Bill 2022. Opposition parties have accused the government of getting the bills passed in haste.
