After two day relaxation from hike in prices of Petrol and Diesel, the rates of fuels once again increased to reach the highest-ever levels. While the rate of Petrol increased by 31 to 35 paise per litre, diesel prices surged by 33 to 37 paise per litre across the country on October 27, as notified by the state-owned fuel retailers.

Here are the prices of fuels in the metropolitan cities:

Petrol- Rs. 107.94/litre

Diesel- Rs. 96.67/litre

Petrol-  Rs. 113.80/litre

Diesel- Rs. 104.75/litre

Petrol-  Rs. 108.45/litre

Diesel- Rs. 99.78/litre

Petrol- Rs. 104.83/litre

Diesel- Rs. 100.92/litre

The difference in rates of Petrol and Diesel across states is because of the induction of Local Taxes. While Petrol has already touched the 100 mark in all the major cities, the rate of Diesel has also reached the same level in almost dozen states and Union Territories. After the end of three week long hiatus in the rate revision of Petrol on September 28, the petrol prices were increased on 22 occasions.
