India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is currently on a visit to New York to attend the United Nations meeting. Addressing a program here, he referred to his midnight discussions with Prime Minister Modi regarding the mission to expel Indians from Afghanistan after the Taliban occupation last year. He said “Remember that last year at midnight there was an attack near our consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. We were keeping an eye on the latest developments and were in touch with the officials there through phone. Then my phone rang. Usually, when the Prime Minister calls, the caller ID is not visible. I was a little surprised but I picked up the phone. The phone belonged to the Prime Minister. He asked the first question as soon as I picked up the phone, Are you awake?”

Jaishankar explains conversation with PM Modi

Jaishankar says that he (Modi) asked, are you watching good TV?'' What is happening there (Afghanistan)? I told that the attack is going on, help is being extended to the Indians. On this the Prime Minister said that good, when everything is over, then call me. I told him that sir it will take two-three more hours now. When it is over, I will tell you here (PMO). On this he said to give me a call.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said that I am telling you all this because it shows that the people sitting in the government, with whom you are working, how active or how sensitive they are. Our Prime Minister has this unique quality that he is ready at all times, good and bad. We saw this even in the time of Covid. Generally leaders stay together only in good times.
