Today's inauguration of the new Parliament building was a topic of oblique criticism from Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the opposition. PM Modi spoke to the airport staff after his return from trips to Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Japan. He made gestures during this to mock the opposition. In reality, a large number of opposition parties skipped the ceremony to officially open the new Parliament building.

PM Modi said" Friends, you'll be glad to know that the previous Australian prime minister was also present at that function, which is in addition to the fact that the Australian prime minister's attendance in the Indian community's programme is a source of pleasure for all of us. There were MPs from the opposition, there were MPs from the ruling party. All of them together participated in this program of the Indian community."
