Pradhan Mantri Digital Health Mission (PM-DHM):
Prime Minister Narendra Modi after returning from his US visit on 27th September 2021 will announce the nationwide rollout of the Pradhan Mantri Digital Health Mission (PM-DHM).
The Pradhan Mantri Digital Health Mission will be launched on 27th September 2021.
The Pradhan Mantri Digital Heath Mission (PMDHM) aims at harnessing technology to improve efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness in healthcare delivery in India by accessing healthcare data to get the best out of it.
The PM Digital Health Mission aims to digitalize the health infrastructure of the country by building Health IDs, Personal Health Records, Unique Identifiers for doctors and health facilities, and telemedicine and e-pharmacy, and many other components.
A national digital health ecosystem will be created under the flagship scheme, using provisions of a wide range of data, information, and infrastructure services, duly leveraging open, interoperable, standards-based digital systems while ensuring security, privacy, and confidentiality of health-related personal information.
The flagship scheme is expected to digitalize healthcare by creating a nationwide digital health ecosystem enabling patients to store, access, as well as consent to share their health records with doctors and health facilities of their choice.
The pilot of the PMDHM scheme has already been introduced in six Union territories, namely, Andaman & Nicobar, Darda& Nagar Haveli, Puducherry, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep, Chandigarh, and Ladakh.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated that the PMDHM mission is privacy and security-led and aims to enable consent-based sharing of health information in the form of test reports, prescriptions, scans, and diagnosis reports between patients and medical experts. This will surely make follow-up care much secure, efficient, resistance-free, and timely.
