Prime Minister Modi to Visit Kedarnath Dham on Nov 5

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is once again going to pay offerings to Lord Shiva in the holy Kedarnath Dham. PM Modi will be visiting Kedarnath on November 5 where he will conduct puja and then will be inaugurating Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi. He will also unveil the statue of Adi Shankaracharya. 

After the heavy floods faced by Kedarnath in 2013, the samadhi has been rebuilt. PM Modi will also be announcing policies and projects worth Rs. 400 crores. PM Modi has always held special affection towards Baba Kedarnath. 

After the heavy floods that occured in Kedarnath in 2013, PM Narendra Modi had expressed desire to rebuilt the devastated place but he wasn’t allowed to do such. After becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has paid several visits to Kedarnath and promised to rebuilt Kedarpuri, work for which is regularly being done. This is the first time since independence when PM Modi will be visiting Kedarnath for the fifth time while serving as the Prime Minister of India. 

PM Modi has special belief in the 11th Jyotirlinga of God Ashutosh, i.e. Lord Shiva- Kedarnath. In 1980s, PM Modi had mediated in Garud Chatti situated at the left side of Mandakini river in Kedarpur for 1.5 month. At that time he used to visit Kedarnath Temple everyday.

PM Modi's previous visits to Kedarnath

After assuming Prime Minister’s office, Narendra Modi first went to Kedarnath on May 3,2017. In the same year, Prime Minister visited Kedarnath again on October 20 when he also laid the foundation stone of 5 major projects for the rebuilding of Kedarpur. The first phase of these projects are complete and the second phase of these projects has begun.

On November 7, 2018 Prime Minister Modi visited Kedarnath Dham for the third time as the Prime Minister of India and he also physically reviewed the rebuilding work. For the fourth time, PM Modi went to Kedarnath Dham on May 14, 2019 when he also spent 17 hours in the ‘Dhyan Gufa’.

This is the fifth time PM modi will be visiting Kedarnath Temple. Officials have already started taking a note of the preparations for PM Modi’s visit to the Dham.
