A significant security failure occurred during PM Modi’s visit to Punjab last year. It is now certain that 9 police personnel will face consequences in that instance. This choice was made following a thorough investigation. However, it is unclear what action will be taken against these officers as of yet. When PM Modi was campaigning in Punjab last year, farmers stopped his convoy in the middle of the road. It was regarded as a major breach in the PM’s security. For about 20 minutes, the Prime Minister’s convoy was trapped.

According to reports, the guilty parties include former Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari, Punjab DGP S Chattopadhyay, SSP Harmandeep Singh, and former Deputy IG Surjit Singh. The Supreme Court established a five-person committee for this purpose, with retired Justice Indu Malhotra serving as its chair.

Anirudh Tiwari, the former state chief secretary, S Chattopadhyay, the police commissioner, and other top officials were cited in the probe committee's report, which was delivered six months ago. As a result, earlier this week, Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua was requested to submit an action taken report by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla.
