Prophet Controversy: Uproar in UP over Nupur Sharma's statement, many policemen injured, 136 people arrested

Several states across the country on Friday demanded the arrest of suspended BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled leader Naveen Jindal for making controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad. Demonstrations were done in. During this, the atmosphere also deteriorated in many places.

Violence cases all over UP

Incidents of stone pelting came to light. Somewhere the police used force to disperse. Muslims protest after Friday prayers at Jama Masjid in Delhi, Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Hyderabad, Prayagraj, Moradabad, Lucknow and Howrah in West Bengal. So far 227 people have been arrested in UP in connection with yesterday's violence. Of these, 68 miscreants have been arrested from Prayagraj, 48 from Saharanpur, 50 from Hathras, 25 from Moradabad. While 8 from Firozabad, So far 28 people have been arrested from Ambedkar Nagar.

Violence also took place in Howrah after Friday prayers. The mob pelted stones at the policemen. In view of the stone pelting, a large number of police forces have been deployed in the area. The police used tear gas shells to control the situation. 

Situations in other states

Around 1500 people had gathered for Friday prayers at Jama Masjid in Delhi. After the namaz, around 300 people came out and raised slogans against Nupur Sharma. The Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid said that there was no call of Protest from our side. Namazi came out after offering Namaz and suddenly started performing. We don't know who the protestors are. I think he is a member of AIMIM or Owaisi's man.

Protesters in Kolkata and Howrah raised slogans on the streets. People said that the one who made controversial remarks against Prophet Muhammad should be met with bad luck. The people involved in the crowd also created a ruckus about the closure of the shops. Several vehicles and fire brigade were set on fire while demonstrating Howrah. After which the police had to use tear gas shells and firing.
