Why was T Raja arrested?

BJP MLA T Raja recently uploaded a video on social media. It is alleged that in this video he made alleged remarks about Prophet Mohammad while supporting Nupur Sharma. His post went viral. After this, demonstrations started in different districts of Telangana. Late in the night, people reached the police stations in Dabirpura, Bhavani Nagar, Michok, Rainbazar and started protesting.After this BJP MLA T Raja has been arrested. DCP P Sai Chaitanya said, a large number of people had protested at the South Zone DCP office last night. People said that the BJP MLA has hurt the religious sentiments of a community. After this a case was registered against him under several sections of the IPC.

Why did the controversy begin?

Comedian Munawwar Farooqui had made remarks inciting religious sentiments during a show. After this T Raja also allegedly threatened Munawwar Farooqui. He also demanded the cancellation of his show. On Friday, when T Raja was trying to reach Munawwar Farooqui's venue, he was taken into preventive custody by the police.

Who is T Raja?

T Raja was born on 15 April 1977 in Hyderabad. T Raja, 45, started his political career with the Telugu Desam Party. In 2014, he was elected MLA from Ghosmahal for the first time on a BJP ticket. Won for the second time in 2018. Raja has total assets of more than Rs 3.31 crore. In the 2018 elections, Raja had won by a margin of 45.2 percent votes.
