The political turmoil in Punjab isn’t settling down as a month after resigning as the Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amrinder Singh disclosed his intention to form new party. Not just this, but he even offered Bharatiya Janata Party to enter into seating arrangement, provided that farmers issue be resolved in interest of farmers.
Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat, slammed Captain Amrinder Singh and said that he is ‘lost’. He also said that Captain would have been helpless to do so and alleged that only Captain and BJP’s top leaders are aware of this helplessness. He also raised some serious allegations against Captain and said that according to the Intelligence report received by the party, Captain was trying to help the Shiromani Akali Dal and some leaders of Parties also used to say that he works under the pressure of Central government. But as the party was not having any proof against the former Chief Minister, they asked him to correct his functioning.
Harish Rawat also said that Captain resigned from the post of Chief Minister on his own and the MLAs of the party were not willing to work with him. The MLAs wanted the appointed of new Chief Minister. Some MLAs even threatened to leave the party if Captain was not removed from the post of Chief Minister.
He said that since Congress is a democratic party, a meeting of legislature party was called but instead of facing the MLAs, Captain Amrinder Singh directly went to Governor and handed over his resignation.
Captain Amrinder Singh, through a series of tweets announced his decision of leaving the Congress Party and forming a new party in Punjab, ahead of Assembly elections 2022. He also expressed willingness to enter into seating arrangements and forming alliance with BJP and other groups, which have separated from Shiromani Akali Dal.
