Just before the Punjab Assembly Election 2022, Congress state president Navjot Singh Sidhu has been embroiled in a controversy. Sidhu's sister, Dr. Suman Toor, who lives in America, has made serious allegations against him. It is said that brother Sidhu expelled mother Nirmal Bhagwant and sisters from the house after the death of father Bhagwant Sidhu. Sidhu lied to the people that his parents had separated when he (Sidhu) was two years old. Suman Toor said that his mother had died at the Delhi railway station in an unclaimed condition.

She has also claimed that she went to meet Navjot Singh Sidhu at his home but he didn’t even open the gates and blocked her phone number. While Navjot Singh’s wife Navjot Kaur says that she doesn't know her and she is the daughter of Navjot’s father and his first wife.

Vikram Singh of Akali Dal also commented on this by saying that this is a family matter and we should not interfere in it but the allegations she has lashed on Navjot Singh Sidhu are very horrendous. 

Reason for alleging Sidhu

When asked why she is alleging him at the time of elections, Suman Toor replied that this has nothing to do with the elections. She is just answering him because of his claim that when their parents were married he was only 2 years old.
