Rajasthan: Tension over Dalit student's death in Jalore, internet service suspended

Tension has increased in the neighbourhood ever after a Dalit student died in Jalore, Rajasthan. There is a call for the teacher accused of the offence to face harsh punishment. The grandparents, uncle, and other family members of the deceased child were visited in Surana village of Sayla tehsil by Jalore District Collector Nishant Jain, SP Harshvardhan Agarwala, ADM Rajendra Prasad Agrawal, and all administrative-police personnel. The authorities told the child's family that the suspect had been taken into custody after a murder and SC/ST Act case was filed, as they offered Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's condolences to the family.

Rajasthan Jalore case

According to the source, a 9-year-old Dalit child in Jalore touched a pot kept at the school to draw water. The teacher became enraged by this and punched the child so hard that a vein ruptured in his ear. The child later passed away at the hospital after being admitted for treatment. The murder of the Dalit student has greatly incensed the villagers. Organizations that stand up for Dalits are also raising this issue. The alleged teacher, however, was detained by the police soon after.
