Samajwadi Party has finalised the names of its Rajya Sabha candidates. Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has decided to send his wife Dimple Yadav to Rajya Sabha. Apart from Dimple, the names of country's famous lawyers Kapil Sibal and Javed Ali Khan are also in the list. Kapil Sibal has been a Rajya Sabha MP from Congress, while Javed Ali Khan has been a Rajya Sabha member even before SP's account. Kapil Sibal has filed his nomination after meeting Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh Yadav himself was present on the occasion of his nomination.
After filing his nomination, Sibal clarified "I have filed nomination as an independent candidate and I thank Akhilesh ji for supporting us." Sibal also said that he had resigned from the Congress on May 16 itself and is no longer a senior Congress leader. Sibal said, "We want to form an alliance by staying in the opposition. We want such an atmosphere to be created in 2024 that the shortcomings of the Modi government are brought to the public."
After Kapil Sibal, Javed Ali also reached the Central Hall of Vidhan Bhavan to file nomination as SP candidate. During this he was accompanied by Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav and party state president Naresh Uttam Patel were present.

SP President Akhilesh Yadav, referring to the justification for supporting Sibal, said, "Kapil Sibal is a well-known advocate of the country. Whether he has been in the Lok Sabha or in the Rajya Sabha, he has put things well. We hope that whoever is in the country."
