Rakhis prepared by the hands of widowed women living in the ashrams of Vrindavan will be tied on the wrist of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This time along with 501 Rakhi, 75 tricolor flags are also being sent by widowed mothers to the Prime Minister on the festival of Rakshabandhan.
Sulabh International's PRO Madan Jha said that till the last few years, some widowed women used to go to PM's house to tie Rakhi on the day of Rakshabandhan, but for the last two years they could not go to the Prime Minister to tie Rakhi due to Covid crisis.
Widow women living in the ashram of Vrindavan have prepared a special Rakhi for Prime Minister Narendra Modi this time. These elderly ladies have sent one thousand Rakhi as well as sweets to PM Modi. Widow women living in Mahila Ashray Sadan in Vrindavan have made colorful rakhis with their own hands due to Rakshabandhan.
Not only this, these women have also depicted the Amrit Mahotsav being celebrated on the occasion of 75 years of independence. Most of the women who have prepared Rakhi, have crossed the age of 70. These women have been engaged in making Rakhi for a long time. In the Rakhi sent to PM Narendra Modi, especially Modi's photo has been put.
Every year a program of making Rakhi for widowed mothers is organized by Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, the founder of Sulabh International. On Tuesday, a similar event was organized at Maa Sharda Ashram. Mothers have decorated the Rakhi made by themselves in two baskets and are sending it to Delhi for the Prime Minister. These rakhis will be delivered to the PMO by Sulabh's representative.
Sulabh International Vice President Vinita Verma said that earlier, on behalf of thousands of widows, four-five widows used to go to Delhi to distribute Rakhi and give sweets to Modi ji. This year we are also in touch with the Prime Minister's Office. He said that some rakhis are made with the portrait of the Prime Minister. 70-year-old Gauravani Dasi had personally gone to tie rakhi to the Prime Minister on the previous day. This year I am also excited to send Rakhi for Modi.
