Congress National General Secretary Randeep Surjewala's tongue slipped on Thursday and made a contentious comment. While talking to the media in Udaipur, instead of Draupadi's chirharan, he discussed Sita Maiya's chirharan. He said that as Sita Maiya was dismembered, the same people now want to rip off democracy. He said that we have started the farmers' movement .was not supported to bake political breads. Surjewala questioned the decision taken by the central government regarding agriculture and farmers and said that the Modi government is betraying the farmers.
Referring to the report of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices, he said that the income of farmers was not doubled under the Modi government, but the pain was doubled a hundred times. He said that the Central Government has declared the support prices of Kharif crops for 2022-23. On one hand, the government is not buying crops at support prices, while on the other hand inflation is increasing. The government wants to abolish MSP. He said that the income of the farmers has come down. At present the income of the farmer is Rs.27 per day. On agriculture, the central government is reducing the budget every year.
Fearing a breakdown in the elections to the four Rajya Sabha seats on Friday, the MLAs were kept at the Taj Aravali Resort in Udaipur from June 1 to Thursday afternoon. On Thursday evening, the MLAs were brought from Udaipur to Jaipur by plane and kept in Hotel Leela. On Friday, the MLAs will be taken to the Assembly for simultaneous voting.
