Remarks on Prophet: Violence erupted again in Howrah, stone pelted on police, tear gas shells fired

The controversy over the statement of suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nupur Sharma is not taking its name to stop. After the violence that broke out in West Bengal on Friday, heavy police force was deployed here, despite this, stone pelting took place again in Howrah on Saturday morning. People also started arson. People threw stones fiercely at the police force stationed there. At the same time, retaliation was also taken from the police side and tear gas shells were used to control the situation.

Internet services are closed

The Mamata Banerjee government has said in the order that the internet service has been stopped to prevent the spread of any kind of rumor about illegal activities. According to the order, the decision was taken after receiving requests from the Additional Director General and Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) in view of the recent incidents in some areas. An order has been issued for internet shutdown till 6 am on Monday. People cannot use voice call and SMS services.

Governor appealed for peace

On Friday itself, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar appealed for peace and sought immediate information from the Chief Secretary of the state on the law and order situation. His office tweeted, "Appealing for peace, the Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar has sought immediate information from the Chief Secretary on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state by 10 pm tonight (10 June 2022)."

The administration has banned the gathering of three or more people in the city till June 15, 2022. A day earlier i.e. yesterday (Friday) also miscreants had pelted stones in Panchala area and blocked roads and railway tracks at different places in Howrah district.
