Rishikesh: Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates 35 PSA Oxygen Plants; Plants set up under PM Cares Fund

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today, inaugurated 35 Oxygen Plants, that have been set up in different states of India. The Prime Minister is currently touring the State of Uttarakhand. It was in Rishikesh, where he inaugurated the Oxygen plant set up at AIIMS, Rishikesh. Along with the oxygen plant at AIIMS, he inaugurated 35 other AIIMS virtually as well. The plants have been set up with the assistance received from PM Cares Fund.

In his address, the Prime Minister said that the world has been made aware of the country’s potential as the nation has developed the facilities to fight COVID-19 in a very short period. Due to the destructive outbreak of second wave of COVID-19, the country had to face tough time due to the shortage of Oxygen faced by it. In view of this, the government decided to set up PSA Oxygen Plants in every district of the country. 

Under this plan, around 1,100 PSA Oxygen Plants have been commissioned that produce around 1750 MT Oxygen per day.

PM Modi on Vaccination Drive

He also lauded the Vaccination drive and said that the creation of Cowin platform will teach the world about how vaccination at such a large scale is conducted. He also said that the nation and administration has been able to provide Vaccine to every corner of the country safely.

He also lauded the potential of the nation, which  underwent the journey from 1 testing Lab to around 3000 testing lab and from being the importer of masks and PPE Kits to be its producer.

Along with the Prime Minister, Uttarakhand’s Governor Major General Gurmit Singh,  Vidhan Speaker speaker Prem Aggarwal, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Uttarakhand’s CM Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present during the inauguration ceremony.

COVID-19 Second Wave

Earlier the nation witnessed the devastating second wave of COVID-19 in the months of April-June. The wave took lives of thousands of people of the country and exposed some loopholes of the administration and health infrastructure such as the lack of enough medical oxygen production facility. Hence, the government decided to work on these loopholes and the establishment of PSA Oxygen Plants is an attempt in the direction of strengthening the country’s health infrastructure, so that it is capable of dealing with national health emergencies in future.
