Today is the Shivratri of hindi month Sawan. On this day, devotees become absorbed in Shiva's devotion. Devotees perform aarti and Jalabhishek in the early morning at an auspicious time. It is said that by doing so, numerous benefits are obtained, and the blessings of Shiva are always bestowed on devotees after performing Lord Shiva's Jalabhishek. According to the old Vedas and stories, Lord Shiva spends the entire month of Sawan at his in-laws' house, Kankhal, running the universe and looking after the people.
On this occasion, pure and holy water is falling from the Ganges river in Haridwar, Uttarakhand's holy city, to perform Lord Shiva's Jalabhishek. A large number of Shiva devotees can be seen in Haridwar during this time. This Sawan and Shivratri are also special because the last two years of Shiva devotees' Corona period passed away in this manner, and now this is the first Shivratri of the month of Sawan, but our old Sawan is also being enjoyed this time.
Temples are now under tight security during the Shivratri festival. All the station managers have been asked to ensure the safety of all the people of their respective areas during the Shivratri festival. They should make proper police security arrangements in temples and maintain peace. During Shivaratri, devotees usually visit the pagoda to worship Lord Shiva. Jalabhishek (worship of the deity with water) is then performed in the temples. During this, there were reports of molestation, snatching and loosening of pockets in temples.
The local district police will be especially vigilant in the event of such a crime. The police will be on patrol till late night for the safety of the devotees. The station managers and outpost in-charges have been asked to ensure adequate security of religious programs and temples in their areas.
