Sidhu's Resignation: Razia Sultana also resigns in 'solidarity with Sidhu'

After Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation from the post of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President, a key ministers of the cabinet, Razia Sultana  has also stepped down in solidarity with Sidhu.

The surprising move from Sultana comes hours after she was given the department of Water Supply and Sanitation, Social Security, Women and Child Development, Printing,and Stationery ministry.

Sultana in her resignation said, “I, Razia Sultana, hereby resign as Cabinet Minister, Punjab in solidarity with Shri Navjot Singh Sidhu, PPCC President and millions of Congress workers across the state. I will continue to work for the party as a worker in the best interest of Punjab. My heartfelt thanks to Smt Sonia Gandhi ji, hon’ble Congress President and Shri Rahul Gandhi ji for their countless blessings on me and my family in our hours of need.”

Razia's husband Mohd. Mustafa, is also serving as strategic advisor to Sidhu.

Three other members of state congress also resign

Other than Razia, Yoginder Dhingra and Gulzar Inder Chahal also handed in their notices from the posts of General Secretary of Punjab Congress and state party treasurer.  Gautam Seth also stepped down from the post of general secretary (in-charge training) of the state Congress.

Earlier Navjot Singh Sidhu has sent his resignation from the post of PPCC president to Sonia Gandhi, interim National President of INC, ahead of Punjab Assembly Elections in 2022. Sidhu was handed over the post and responsibility in July,2021.
