The Kerala Story, directed by Sudipto Sen, caused a stir across the nation. On May 5, the movie opened in theatres. The movie had a strong first day at the box office, making more money than Shehzada and The Kashmir Files. This movie, which had a production budget of just 40 crores, has surpassed expensive box office hits. The Kerala Story has joined the group of films with 2023’s fifth-largest opening weekend.
The Kerala Story’s box office take was discussed on Twitter by film critic Taran Adarsh, who wrote, “The Kerala Story has started with a bang, its solid occupancy is visible. The opening day numbers were an eye opener for the entire industry, it did a business of 8.03 crores on Friday. Weekend will also be strong.”
The Kerala Story has also surpassed Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files. On its opening day, The Kashmir Files brought in $3.55 at the box office. While ‘Selfie’ only made Rs 2.55 crore on its first day of release, the contrast is striking.
