In Tamil Nadu, the movie 'The Kerala Story' starring Adah Sharma has been banned. The film has been denied theatrical release by the Tamil Nadu Multiplex Association. Apparently, the proprietors of the multiplex and the theatres have ceased showing the movie due to the unstable law and order situation and the film's mixed reception.

Why is The Kerala Story in controversy?

The topic of the possible conversion of girls in Kerala to Islam and their recruitment into ISIS has been widely discussed since the release of The Kerala Story trailer. While some believe the movie to be based on real events, others consider it to be propaganda. The exact number of girls affected by this phenomenon is still unknown.

The plot of the film centers around Shalini Unnikrishnan, a nursing college student from Kerala. The story depicts how Shalini and her friend are trapped in a love affair by young Muslim men, who later abandon her after she becomes pregnant and take her to Syria. The movie raises questions about the fate of Shalini's family. Despite facing protests, the movie was released and received mixed reactions from the audience
