Electric cars are coming to India and there is a new name - BYD. Yes, you must be wondering what is this car and what is BYD, but chances are you are already using one of its products. BYD or 'Build Your Dreams' is one of the largest electric car manufacturers, but at the same time, it has several different business divisions, including being the largest supplier of rechargeable batteries, manufacturing cell-phone shells, etc. BYD is all about electric cars and aims to sell one million electric vehicles a year.

The e6 is a bigger MPV built on a different electric car platform. This is not a petrol or diesel car that is being converted into an EV. Its advantage is in space and wheelbase as electric cars are less complex. Let’s take a look at its specifications

BYD E6 Exterior

Its design is simple yet good looking and it stands out in the blue/black dual tone color scheme – especially from the Innova. It gets LED DRLs, 17-inch wheels and a nice chrome line at the rear that matches the character line on the side. The front doesn't get the usual grille but gets a simple design with sharp looking headlamps. The paint finish and build quality also looked great. The front one is greeted by a single-slat chrome strip and a hexagon-shaped grille with a honey-comb like pattern right below it.

The dashboard is also well built but there is some hard plastic at the bottom. However, there is a gap in the steering wheel which reduces some of the premium. Would love the 10.1-inch rotatable touch screen which also has WiFi. There are some preloaded apps too while the touch screen seems quite responsive. The rotatable bit also makes it easier to view portraits. Talking about the features, the e6 gets air purifier, climate control with rear vents, rear view camera, smart key, tire pressure monitoring system, 4 speaker audio system etc.

BYD E6 Engine and Performance

The BYD E6 is propelled by a single AC motor that powers the front wheels while producing 70kW and 180Nm of torque. The 71.7kWh battery pack has a claimed WLTP range of 415kms. With the introduction of the E6, BYD has also debuted its own blade battery technology that is said to be more efficient and yet smaller at the same time. The company offers two variants for the B2B market, including GL and GLX.

It gets multiple charging options like the 6.6kWh that can charge the battery in 12 hours, a 40kWh AC Type2 charger that takes just two hours for a full charge, as well as a DC CCS2 60kWh charging option.

BYD E6 Price

The BYD E6 is currently offered in two variants including GL and GLX, with prices starting at Rs 29.15 lakh and Rs 29.85 lakh, respectively.
