Congress leader Manickam Tagore shared a screenshot of Himanta's 2010 tweet and asked PM Modi who Himanta Biswa is cheating. The Congress leader said to beware of them. I know you won't let them cheat. In a 2010 tweet that has not been deleted, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote that Rahul Gandhi will be the Prime Minister of our country in due course. Then our AASU will demand his appointment to meet him in New Delhi.

Himanta Biswa Sarma quit the Congress in 2015 and led the BJP to victory in Assam in 2016. When he left the party, he blamed Rahul Gandhi. He referred to a meeting with Rahul Gandhi where he was reportedly busy playing with his dog Pidi while he waited for her. Himanta alleged that the biscuits were given from the plate the dog was eating. Himanta Biswa continued his scathing attack against Rahul Gandhi as earlier this year he questioned whether the BJP had ever asked Rahul Gandhi for Rajiv. Proof of being Gandhi's son was sought.

Himanta visits Mahalaxmi Temple
