Ramdhari Singh Dinkar Birthday

Born on this day in 1908, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar was an Indian Hindi poet, essayist, patriot, and academic, who is considered one of the most important modern Hindi poets. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1959 for his work Sanskriti ke char adhyay. His works are mostly of Veer Rasa, or the 'brave mode'. Some of his greatest works are Rashmirathi and Parashuram ki Prateeksha. 


Caesar Augustus Birthday

Born on this day in 63 BCE, Caesar Augustus was the first Roman emperor, sometimes known as H or Octavian, who held office from 27 BC until his death in 14 AD. Known for founding the Roman Principate, the first stage of the Roman Empire, Augustus is regarded as one of the greatest leaders in recorded human history.


The Battle of Assaye 

On this day in 1803, The British East India Company defeated the Maratha army at the Battle of Assaye. Major General Arthur Wellesley led an outnumbered Indian and British force that overcame the combined Maratha armies of Daulatrao Scindia and the Bhonsle Raja of Berar. Even more so than his more well-known successes in the Peninsular War and his defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo, the battle was the Wellesley's first significant victory and the one he later considered as his greatest achievement on the battlefield.

The discovery of the planet Neptune, whose existence had been mathematically predicted by Urbain-Jean-Joseph Le Verrier and John Couch Adams, was made on this day in 1846 by astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle.


The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is Founded (Saudi National Day)

Ibn Saud, the ruler of the House of Saud, united the kingdoms of Hejaz and Nejd on this day in 1932 to form the Middle Eastern nation. In the Kingdom, the day is observed as Saudi National Day.


Sigmund Freud's Death Anniversary

On this day in 1939, The world-famous neurologist Sigmund Freud passed away. He founder of psychoanalysis, a clinical method for evaluating and treating pathologies in the psyche through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst. In constructing psychoanalysis, Freud discovered transference and created therapeutic methods like the use of free association, establishing its key place in the analytic procedure.
