He has served as the High Commissioner of India, Cyprus , Ambassador of India to Myanmar, High Commissioner of India to Australia (1995–99) and the High Commissioner of India to Pakistan. Also, he was the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Prime Minister's Office.

Born on this day in1918,  T. Balasaraswati, one of the most famous ‘Bharatanatyam’dancers of India. She was awarded the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Vibhushan, the third and the second-highest civilian honours given by the Government of India. 

 

  1. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Birthday

Born on this day in 1905, from 1974 to 1977, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was the fifth President of India.

 

  1. R. K Narayan Death Anniversary

R. K. Narayan was an eminent Indian writer known for his work Malgudi Days. He won the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan. Some of his famous works are The Guide, Swami and Friends and more.

  1. Dr. Zakir Husain Became 3rd President of India

On this day in 1967, Dr Zakir Husain becomes the third President of India. He is the first Muslim President of the Indian Union who maintained this position until August 24, 1969.

 

  1. U.S. declaration of war on Mexico approved

Due to the tensions between Mexico and the United States— on this day in 1846 a declaration of war against Mexico was approved.
