Thousands of passengers were stopped on Kedarnath, walking path broken

The Gaurikund walkway was broken on Tuesday after commuters were stopped on the highway due to rain on Monday. Due to which more than ten thousand pilgrims going to Kedarnath have been stopped at various stops. The administration claims that soon the road will be repaired, but even after about three hours, the road has not been smooth. 

Road opening work is in progress. The concerned officials say that soon the traffic will be smooth. Prepaid token system of horse mule has been implemented by the district panchayat and district administration in Yamunotri Dham from today. The prepaid token system of Dandi and Kandi came into effect from May 15.

Water level increased in Alaknanda

Earlier on Monday evening, the water level of Alaknanda had increased due to rain and falling stones from the hill, due to which the pilgrims going to Badrinath were stopped for three hours as a precautionary measure at Lambagad. Late at night, under the supervision of the police, these passengers were safely sent to a nearby halt. 

Due to heavy rains in Chamoli district since Monday evening, Khachra Nala near Lambagar on Badrinath Highway had come to a boil. Due to rain, stones started falling from the hill. On this, passengers were stopped at various places in view of security from around 8 to 11 pm. The water level of the Alaknanda river had also increased due to the rains.

Roadblock and Path damaged

According to the information, the pedestrian path was damaged due to the sudden breaking of the hill at 6 am on Tuesday morning at the horse halt Gaurikund. Due to which the administration had stopped about 8000 passengers in Sonprayag and Gaurikund. After a lot of effort, after about two hours, the pedestrian route was made smooth for movement and the passengers were sent forward.

At the same time, the road was blocked due to the arrival of boulders at Galau near Panchpula in Karnaprayag, which was opened for movement after an hour at 12 noon.
