World Day of War Orphans observed on 6 January

World Orphans Day 2022: World Day of War Orphans is observed annually on January 6 to highlight the problems of children who lost their parents during a conflict making them the most vulnerable and disadvantaged group of society. World Day of War Orphans Day 2022 is a reminder that protecting and caring for children who are left alone in awful conditions is a duty of governments and authorities around the world.

International Solar Alliance: Antigua and Barbuda becomes 102nd member

The Caribbean Nations, Antigua and Barbuda become the 102nd member of the International Solar Alliance. the International Solar Alliance is led by the initiative of India. The Prime Minister of both nations signed the International Solar Framework Agreement on Tuesday. 

Vinod Kannan appointed as Vistara CEO

On Saturday, Vinod Kannan took over as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Vistara airline. According to a statement by the carrier, Kannan replaced Leslie Thng who was the CEO from 16 July 2017 to 31 December 2021.
The statement added that Deepak Rajawat has been elevated to take up the role of Vistara’s chief commercial officer. Vistara is a 51:49 joint venture between Tata Sons Private Limited and Singapore Airlines (SIA).

Freedom fighter & Ex- BJP member K. Ayyappan Pillai passes away

On Wednesday morning, freedom fighter and lawyer K. Ayyappan Pillai passed away at a private hospital here. He was 107 years old.
Pillai was a prominent figure in the social and political milieu of Thiruvananthapuram(Kerala) and one of the early leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kerala state. He was under treatment for heart-related ailments. He was even influenced by the revolutionary ideas of Mahatama Gandhi. During the 1930’s he took participated in the Indian freedom movement.

Kerala University develops 5G microwave absorber

Assistant Professor of the Department Physics at Kerala University, Subodh and analysis scholar Vidhya Lalan have developed fifth-generation (5G) microwave absorbers that might function as efficient protection in opposition to such radiation. “The problems posed by EMI demanded immediate attention in this era of 5G technology and Internet of Things (IoT) when it has become difficult to undertake routine chores without the help of electronic devices and internet that work around electromagnetic waves. The need for EMI shielding materials, especially those suitable for high-frequency applications, has never been as crucial as a present,” Dr Subodh says.
