India’s performance at Rio Olympics 2016:

In the last season of the Olympics Games, the Rio Olympics 2016, India sent its strong contingent of 117 athletes to compete across 15 sports. After its commendable performance at the London Olympics 2012, India was expecting a good number of medals at the Rio Olympics 2016, as the contingent went with some popular names such as Gagan Narang, Deepika Kumari, Abhinav Bindra, Saina Nehwal, but failed at that. 

India managed to earn only 2 medals at the Rio Olympics 2016 after the performance of P.V. Sindhu and Sakshi Malik.

PV Sindhu earned a silver medal in women’s singles, while Sakshi Malik won a bronze medal in the women’s freestyle 58 kg category at the Rio Olympics 2016.
