Academic collaborations are nothing new. For research and academic collaborations, several institutions and colleges reach out to their foreign institutes. These collaborations can help educational institutions strengthen their international ties and pursue shared objectives. The University Grants Commission's updated policies have also made it simpler for Indian and foreign universities to work together on academic projects. Let's talk about more academic collaborations.
More than 40 foreign universities have expressed interest in establishing Memorandums of Understanding with Indian universities. A recent agreement of understanding for collaborative academic and research endeavours between the University of California and IIT-Kanpur was inked. Foreign universities are being actively contacted by the University Grants Commission (UGC), and many of them have already partnered with Indian institutions.
Academic Tie-Up Procedure
-
Dual Degree: In a programme leading to a dual degree, a candidate studies a subject for which both an Indian and a foreign university grant a degree.
-
Joint Degree: The curriculum is created by the two partner universities, and up to 30% of the course may be completed abroad.
-
Twinning Programme: The programme is completed in two parts, with the first half taking place in an Indian university and the second half abroad. The percentage of credits from international universities will not exceed 30%.
