The earthquake's magnitude was recorded as 7.8 on the Richter scale. According to the local time, the earthquake occurred at roughly 04:17 in the morning.
Early on Monday, a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake that killed over 1,300 people and levelled hundreds of structures slammed southeastern Turkey and northern Syria. Rescue teams combed through heaps of debris in towns and cities all throughout the region, and hundreds more people were still thought to be buried beneath the debris. The death toll is anticipated to grow even more.
