Over 8,000 people have died in seven deadly earthquakes in Turkey-Syria in the past 24 hours. And the number is rising. In both countries, more than 30,000 people have suffered injuries. The World Health Organization predicts that the death toll in Turkey might rise by up to eight times. 

President imposes emergency in 10 states

A three-month state of emergency has been declared by the Turkish president because of the rising death toll. Ten states in the nation will be affected by this emergency. The President informed the public that the southern states of the nation would be affected by this emergency. To hasten the relief and rescue efforts, this action is being taken. The country's emergency will terminate only in time for the May 14 presidential election.

WHO predicts 20 thousand deaths

According to WHO, given the reports that are coming in and the magnitude of the earthquake, this number may exceed 20,000. The WHO has dispatched a medical team to provide aid and rescue. At the same time, more than 70 nations have offered assistance in this catastrophe.
