The total number of people who died in the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria in the past has gone up to 50 thousand. Here 1,60,000 buildings including 5,20,000 apartments had collapsed due to the strong earthquake. Significantly, earthquake tremors were felt in Turkey on 6 February. The first jolt came at 4.17 am. Its intensity on the Richter scale was 7.8 magnitude. The epicenter of the earthquake was Gaziantep in southern Turkey.
Before people could recover from it, another earthquake occurred shortly after, its intensity on the Richter scale was 6.4 magnitude. This period of earthquake tremors did not stop here. After this there was another shock of 6.5 magnitude. These tremors caused havoc in 11 provinces including Malatya, Sanliurfa, Osmaniye and Diyarbakir. At 4 o'clock in the evening, there was another shock of the earthquake. This shock caused the most devastation. Exactly one and a half hours later, at 5.30 in the evening, there was the fifth tremor of the earthquake.
Let us tell you that India had started 'Operation Dost' to provide assistance after thousands of people were killed in various areas of Turkey and Syria in the devastating earthquake on 6 February. Under this, different teams were formed and sent. Out of these, many teams had already returned after the rescue operation was over. Just last Sunday, the last team has also returned from Turkey.
