Britain's newly appointed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his family will live in a small flat at 10 Downing Street.Sunak, along with his wife Akshata Murthy and two daughters, had stayed in this flat when he was the finance minister during the then Prime Minister Boris Johnson's tenure.

The Prime Minister's spokesperson said Sunak was very happy there.According to the UK Government website, 10 Downing Street has been the residence of British Prime Ministers since 1735.It is the prime minister's official residence, his office and the place where the prime minister hosts guests ranging from world leaders to royals.

In recent years, especially with family, many prime ministers live in the big flat of number 11, which is officially named for the finance minister.Asked why Sunak chose the number 10 residence instead, a Downing Street spokeswoman said on Wednesday: "They were very happy there."

The residential areas within Downing Street are generally out of sight.Sunak told the Times newspaper during a contest for the leadership position in the Conservative Party in August that if elected, the family would "probably move back to the flat where we lived"."We decorated it already and it's lovely," he said.
