Union Budget 2022: Opposition Uproar Over Pegasus Report, Budget 2022 begins today

Union Budget 2022: The budget session of the Parliament is starting today. The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind will deliver a speech and present the achievements and agenda of the government. After this the disclosure of the economic survey, that is, just a day before the budget, the secret of the economic health of the country will be revealed. The President will address the joint session of both the houses in the Central Hall. After the President’s Speech, Economic Survey-2021-22 will be presented in both the houses, in which a detailed description of the economic condition of the country will be presented along with indicating the future direction of economic-social policies and programs.

 

Pegasus Row in Budget 2022

As per the reports, opposition parties are likely to raise 3 core issues during the budget 2022 commencement today. They are the Pegasus snooping allegations, farmers' issues and the border row with China. 

The budget session is being held this year in the midst of crucial assembly elections in five states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and 2 more states.

after the New York Times claimed that India purchased the snooping spyware as part of a defence deal with Israel in 2017, the opposition is prepared to unanimously take on the government on the Pegasus snooping case.

Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha has already written to Speaker Om Birla for moving a privilege motion against the government and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for "misleading" the House, as the government had denied the charges of "spying" in a statement in Parliament last year.
