Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur gave a befitting reply to Pakistan, 2023 World Cup will be held in India itself

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, while responding to Pakistan's threat to pull out of the ICC ODI World in India next year, has said that the Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will answer it and the ODI World Cup 2023 will be held in India itself. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had threatened to pull out of the ODI World Cup following comments made by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on shifting the Asia Cup from Pakistan.

Anurag Thakur’s comment

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has said that this matter is of BCCI, so he will not comment much in this matter. He said that India is a sports superpower, where many Cricket World Cups have been organized. One Day World Cup 2023 will be held in India itself and teams from all over the world will participate in it. You can't expect India in any sport, he said. He said that the World Cup 2023 will be a grand event, which will be remembered even further. He further said that the Home Ministry of India will take a decision regarding this whole matter, the issue of security is big in Pakistan. 

All teams are welcome- Anurag

The 50-over World Cup is to be played in India after the Asia Cup next year. Anurag Thakur said, 'All the teams that have qualified to play the World Cup in India will be invited. India is no longer in a position to listen to anyone and has no reason to listen to anyone. We welcome everyone. Hope everyone will come.

The Indian team has not toured Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup in the wake of the Mumbai terror attack. The Pakistani team had come to India in 2012 for a six-match series but in the last ten years the two countries have not played bilateral cricket.
